My Blog~
Well,
this is a new idea for me and it is still in the works! I imagine I
will be telling stories, sharing
what I ate for dinner,
new recipes, tips, and ideas.
You can expect restaurant reviews, party reviews and
frustations and triumphs with cooking. I may blog everyday and I may
not. I hope you enjoy what I am about to embark on and that it brings
you some kind of inspiration and curiosity . That is really all I want
from Gina's Kitchen and the people that
I touch and share my love of food with.
Thanks for stopping by and please remember.....
FOOD,
FUN, LIFE, LOVE!!

The birthday season
has been a blast! My day was on the 10th, along with our Cook de Cuisine
, Alexandra Gates, and Matt Jacobs, Katherine’s sweetie. All of
us Aquarian’s celebrated together and separately at various culinary
places. I began my crawl on Friday at Enoteca for lunch, Matt as our
sous chef, with my Dad and husband. I had to have a nap after that.
We then went to the Alamo Draft House for dinner and a movie. I worked
on Saturday and then came home to a wonderful spaghetti dinner made
my Ken and the kids. My uncles, Chris and Chuck, my Nanny and Dad, and
Ronny we’re in attendance. What a celebration of me! I am so blessed.
I then did a food demonstration at The Home Retreat on Sunday with Katherine.
I had been so nervous about this and it went fabulously! Ken took me
to meet our best friends Kirk and Rose at Capitol Basserrie- to my great
surprise, 12 of my friends we’re there. We had such a wonderful
time! The food was great and the company was amazing..My friends and
family gave the best rendition of Happy Birthday that the whole bar
and restaurant gave a standing ovation..I am so blessed with a supportive
team of friends and family, that I could not do my life without them!
Thank you to all of you-Remember everyday- Food, Fun, Life, and Love,

Hello Everyone
and Happy Spring! Oops , not yet. We have some great classes coming
up the end of this month and in February. If you would like to do treat
your sweetie on Valentine's Day, we have a great class with sweeties
Dana and Bill. Avoid the crowded restaurants and slaving away over the
stove to impress the one you love. Sign-up for this sexy class, soon,
as it will fill up. I had a great day volunteering as a Dame with Paula
Biehler at two local kitchens that serve lunch on Saturdays . Please
take time out in your busy lives to help those that are truly hungry.
Have a great Sunday- and always remember Food, Fun, Life, and Love!

Wow, it's 2006 and the Longhorns'
are #1- I really am not into Football all that much but it was nice
to blare the 'Eyes of Texas' to my cousins in LA on Wednesday night!
As true valley boys, they we're like "Whatever". So, as a
true Valley girl ,I responded with "Oh ma gawd, we so totally dissed
USC". That's my semi-orange blood seeping through. The new year
is buzzing with bride's and clients wanting to learn new cooking techniques.
We will be doing the Oslo Bridal Happy Hour on Jan 12, 5:30-8p. Please
stop by and say hello and sample Gina's Kitchen's delectable tastings.I
am also very proud to say that Barbara Chisolm has named Gina's Kitchen's,
South Austin Cobb Salad, as one of her fav's in the Chronicles "The
Year in Dining, 2005". Please check out the article in this week's
paper , as it has oodles of useful information about sleepy restaurants,
gourmet products, and the big guns of the restaurant world. I must agree
with Claudia that, Uchi, is a fabulous place to dine and Impress.Vespaio
is Primo Ristorante for this Sicilian Girl! I just wish we could still
afford to dine there. A little kitchen cooking news: Alexandra and I
have come up with a fabulous recipe: Rose Cheesecake, it's eggless!!
My Mama challenged me to do something for Amy Graf's,who doesn't eat
eggs, Bridal Shower on Sunday, and oh my!!All of you Ovo-Lacto Veggies,
give us a call and we will make ya happy! Have a great night everyone-
Uncle Cameron, it was great speaking Italian with you- Love to the Valley
Familia.. As Always, Food, Fun, Life , and Love!

Whoa Trigger! This
is a first, 2 blogs in one week… Well I must say I am trying to
find my writing voice as the legs are giving out from standing and cooking
all day!!! We just bought our daughter, Dee Dee, a 1977 Chevy Van for
transporting herself to school and work. I must say I feel liberated,
as parents of teens can empathize with, after years of being a cabby.
We are very excited about our upcoming class schedule. It will be posted
next week as we are confirming dates and instructors. Please email me
if you would like to be on the list: gina@ginaskitchen.com
As the new year begins again, I feel compelled to talk about new beginnings
but not this year..As U2 says: “ Some days are better than others”,
and honestly I am still beginning the year 2005. We are going too fast
these days. I talked with my friend Tyson today and he said the new
year has begun and he’s already tired, after 2 days!! I think
we can all understand where he’s comin’ from. Anywho, I
encourage everyone to continue what they started last year and complete
it and feel good about it! Don’t start anything new that you won’t
complete before 2007.. Follow- through my friends- that’s all
I wish for you and me!! Happy Food, Fun, Life and Love- that’s
all we’ve got..

Well, I figure I should
muster up the time to address everyone the night before the year 2006.
We have had a lot of changes here at Gina’s Kitchen in 2005. We
have a new officer manager, Katherine Byrum, as of the Spring . Dana
Drutz left us for Curra’s and other endeavors. She still is on
staff as an instructor, please look for her upcoming classes. We would
like to introduce and welcome Alexandra Gates, our Cook de Cuisine,
by way of New York City. Several of our kitchenettes have hit the big
time: Tom Pederson , of Kakawa Cocoa Beans, will be featured in Saveur
magazine in February. Spiceburst is now featured all over town, including
the Farm To Market Grocery on South Congress. Our very own Carissa and
Gabriel Garza have opened Flora and Fauna’s across the street
from Gina’s Kitchen, featuring flowers, chocolates, wines, GK’s
prepared foods and gifts. Eliot Logan-Hines, one of the founders of
the Finca Project is having a fundraiser on Jan 22,3-6pm, with music,
food and the exploration of the Costa Rican Life and Rain Forest. I
have recently become a Les Dames Inductee and we are promoting Project
Transition’s Fundraiser ‘Guess Who's Coming To Dinner’
on Feb 4, 2005 at Gina’s Kitchen. As of Jan 15, we will be serving
freshly made prepared foods for The Bicycle Sport Shop on South Lamar,
in addition to Farm To Market Grocery on South Congress. My best wishes
in 2006 to all of the Austinites who have participated in and supported
Gina’s Kitchen in some way or fashion. As always please remember,
Food, Fun, Life and Love!

Hi
Everyone! Has it really been seven months since I've been here. I've
been here in Austin working on alot of stuff. We are now selling our
Grab N' Go food at the Farm to Market Grocery on South Congress. It's
a great neighborhood store where you can find everything you need and
really enjoy the experience of shopping(does anyone remember the 10th
St 'neighborhood' grocery?).These are the perfect days that remind us
of why we are in Austin and keep us here. We are gearing up for the
Holidays- Does everyone have their parties booked with us? If not, it's
time to do it..Please head out to Boggy Creek Farms for The Greencorn
Project Fundraiser, it promises to be a fun and beautiful day! It's tomorrow
from 12-5p.It's been a little over a year now that we have been at our
new location with the cute aprons in the window on 12th St. I thank
